During your call with Susan, the following will be discussed. 

 

·       Cost: the range for a 17-page graphic novel including adaptation, layout, background art and illustrations is between $5,900 and up.

·       What will the title be?

·       Review of script.

·       Discussion regarding your vision compared to what is written.

·       Strength of marketability of the genre

·       The number of pages you want the novel to be.

·       Is it a series?

·       How many primary characters are there?

·       Is the lead male or female?

 

·       Q & A regarding our process and your vision of how your storyline can best reach the audience you want targeted.

 

How our process works for creating your graphic novel.

Adapting your script to a manuscript

 ADAPTING BOOKS TO SCRIPTS

 

Susan has the knowledge and experience to adapt your manuscript to a script. Her talent as an Emmy winning writer and bestselling author, will ensure your script meets the vision you want on screen and the standards set by studios and broadcast stations.

 

In addition to writing scripts that meet your vision and meeting the standards required to submit to film industry executives, BSI also has the ability to provide the professional guidance and support materials to market your script to investors and industry executives.

 

BSI Films executive team also has the ability to submit your script to studios, streaming, cable and broadcast stations for funding, and / or licensing of your script.

 

 

The manuscript is then published as a book through our affiliate publishing company, Word First Publishing. Once the book is available for sale, it is then sold through our affiliate bookseller Barnes & Noble. The entire process from start to finish will take approximately 9-12 weeks.

Our process starts with the adaptation of your script to a manuscript. The manuscript is then published as a book through our affiliate publishing company, Word First Publishing. Once the book is available for sale, it is then sold through our affiliate bookseller Barnes & Noble. The entire process from start to finish will take approximately 9-12 weeks. 

 

The information below provides an overview of how our process starts and steps we will take to adapt, publish and make your book available for sale.

 

Our Process:

 

Phase 1:

After a thorough review and analysis of your script we will determine how many pages of your script will be used for the first draft of your story and the number of pages your book will have. 

 

Within approximately 2-3 weeks, Susan will provide an outline for how your manuscript will be written and include the number of pages your book will have along with a breakdown of what the beginning chapter(s) are about. 

 

Upon approval of the outline by you, within 1-2 weeks out executive will submit to you the completed outline containing a breakdown of all of the chapters along with a written draft of the 1st chapter of your manuscript.  

 

 

Phase 2:

 

Note: The rate that’s quoted for adapting your script to a manuscript includes publishing the manuscript as a book through our partner Word First Publishing and once published is made available for purchase through our affiliate Barnes & Noble. 

 

Adapting a script to a manuscript is separate from having the manuscript published as a book. You retain 100% of the rights to the script you submitted, and you can continue marketing the script to film industry executives. 

 

The manuscript is Authored by you and co-authored by Susan. The publisher Word First Publisher will print the book and the bookseller Barnes & Noble will distribute it. 

 

Upon completion of the writing of the manuscript and prior to going to print, a separate agreement outlining publishing and distribution terms and conditions will be sent to you for your review and signature. Additional fees will apply for publishing services or plans being requested that are different from the services we’ve stated herein. The services stated below will be absorbed by Brilliant Stories Inc. and will be reimbursed through the sale of the books. The Author has no obligations or responsibility for reimbursement of these costs.

Creating your graphic novel is a 3-step process, that will include the following.

 

Step 1. Design of the Layout and captioning on each page.

Step 2. Cover design of your book i.e. will it be violent, scary, action etc., and graphic drawing of the main characters, i.e. what race, diverse, interracial, under or over 18 etc. 

Step 3. Book is proofed and sent to Word First Publishing for formatting and then sent to Barnes& Noble for printing and distribution.

 

During your call with Susan, the following will be discussed. 

 

What will the title be?

What will be the first step taken? Typically it starts with reviewing, analyzing and polishing the script and then adapting the storyline so that it can be made to read as a graphic novel. For your book the first part has been completed, Susan will now discuss how the storyline will be adapted.

What is the style of the storyline for the first novel? How will the tone of the novel be portrayed i.e. violence, language, images, mature audience or PG etc.

Review again the number of pages the first novel will be.

The style of the graphic design of the main characters. Who will be main characters, i.e. women, men, kids …

(Introduction) Sophie is our project director and formally from Marvel Comics. She suggest you Google scary comic characters male & female to get ideas of what you want your characters to look like.

The Layout (storyboard) of the first novel. Background colors, number of pages, number of panels per page and number of characters.

Q & A regarding our process and your vision of how you want your book to look.
